Scanning
I personally have found that
for Scanning Photo's 180 DPI works best.
The lower the resolution the faster it will scan and the smaller the file
size will be. For Text 300 DPI seems to work well. For pictures you want
to send by email or post on the web you want to keep the file size small
80K or smaller. To determine the size, Right click
on the picture, and choose properties.
The best scanning Software I
have used is Presto Page Manager, it works well for
graphics and text. And is very easy to use. And Corel Photopaint.
I have an Epson Perfection 636
Scanner it is a SCSI, it scans about 5 times as fast as the cheaper
Parallel port models. The new USB2 scanners are fast also.
Caere Omniform for building forms
that can be filled out on screen is excellent
To Scan a photo that you want larger, Play
with resolution versus size % some scanning programs don't support
this, but mine does and I will try scanning
at say 7200 DPI then set the % to 5% Or 10% and play around with that
till the picture comes out the way I want it. It is great for old Family
pictures that were so small you
could hardly tell what the people looked
like.
